Barbeque Soy Curls

Preparation

  1. Soak soy curls in hot water for 10 minutes or until soft.  

  2. Mix tahini, olive oil, onion powder, garlic powder, basil, salt, and water until very smooth.  

  3. Mix soy curls in the mixture and let marinate 10 minutes.  

  4. Bake marinated soy curls uncovered in a pre-heated oven at 350°F for 25 minutes then stir and bake another 15 minutes. 

Ingredients

  • 4 cups of soy curls

  • 3/4 cup tahini

  • 1/2 cup olive oil 

  • 2 Tbsp onion powder

  • 1 Tbsp garlic powder

  • 1 Tbsp basil 

  • 1 Tbsp salt

  • 1 cup water 

 

Variation - Soy Curls with BBQ Sauce

  1. While soy curls are in the oven baking, make barbeque sauce (Recipe included). 

  2. In the bottom of a baking dish spoon enough barbeque sauce, to cover the bottom.  

  3. Arrange a layer of soy curls and cover with barbeque sauce. Repeat with more layers ending with barbeque sauce.  

  4. Cover and bake in oven for 25 minutes.  

 

Barbeque Sauce

Makes 4 cups.

Preparation

  1. In a large saucepan, sauté onion and garlic in some water until vegetables are translucent.

  2. Add the seasonings.

  3. Add tomato sauce, molasses, honey and salt to the saucepan and simmer uncovered for 30 minutes or until desired constituency.

Ingredients

  • 1 large onion, chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • ½ teaspoon basil, dried 

  • ¼ tsp oregano, dried

  • ¼ teaspoon marjoram, dried

  • 2-28 oz. tomato sauce jars 

  • 1 tablespoon molasses (optional)

  • ¼ cup honey

  • 1 tsp liquid smoke or hickory smoked flavoring

  • 1½ teaspoon salt
